Miriam Quiambao pregnancy threatened with autoimmune disease
A few months after announcing her pregnancy with her “miracle baby, ” 43-year-old beauty queen Miriam Quiambao announces being diagnosed with Obstetric Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome, which is an autoimmune disease that is risky for pregnant women.
On her husband Ardy Roberto’s social media, the couple announces how they are “Still so amazed at how God is working in [their] lives” 19 weeks after confirming the pregnancy because “Miriam only had a 1% to 2% chance of getting pregnant naturally at her age and condition.”
After Miriam’s social media followers also noticed the bruises on her belly in an Instagram post, she quickly replied, “I was diagnosed with Obstetric APAS and need to inject every night for the whole duration of my pregnancy.” She relates in a seperate post about the risks of her pregnancy sharing, “Ever since I got pregnant 6 months ago, I was advised to avoid any long-distance and out the country trips until the end of my pregnancy to avoid unnecessary exposure to stress, infection and radiation in the plane,” adding, “I was willing to do this for the sake of my miracle baby but I have to say that I was beginning to grow restless staying in the city all the time.”
Miss Universe Philippines 1991 Miriam married her husband Ardy Roberto four years ago in Tagaytay, then adopted their son, Joshua. The couple had always had difficulty getting pregnant, even previously considering in vitro fertilization to have a child. However, they announced their pregnancy last August, with Miriam posting a photo of her sonogram stating, “Praise God who is the author of miracles and the creator of life! By His grace, He rewarded our faith with the greatest gift: a baby conceived naturally!” She tells her fans, “Whatever it is, if you’re still praying to get pregnant, continue praying. All these years, I’ve been holding on to God’s promise.” The couple is expecting a baby boy in March 2019.
