SPAM® Menudo

The perfect weeknight dinner. This rich and hearty stew tastes amazing with rice and will have everyone asking for seconds!

Prep Time: 20 min     Cook Time: 15 min     Serving: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp mince garlic
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 can SPAM® Less Sodium, slice into 4 then dice into 8 per slice
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1 small carrot, diced
  • ⅓ cup raisins
  • ⅓ cup green peas
  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Directions

  1. Heat oil and sauté garlic and onion.
  2. Add diced SPAM® Less Sodium, potatoes and carrots. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Add tomato paste and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add in beef broth, bay leaf, raisins and green peas. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Add a pinch of sugar. Turn off stove.
  7. Top on cooked rice, serve.

 

SPAM® Puto

Add a SPAM® twist to this beloved classic Filipino snack. These fluffy cakes are surprisingly easy to whip up and will keep the kid’s hunger at bay.

Prep Time: 10 min     Cook Time: 20-30 min     Serving: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 can SPAM® Classic, cubed ½cm
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients starting from the flour, sugar, and baking powder then mix well.
  2. Add the butter, evaporated milk, egg, water and vanilla then mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Mix in SPAM® Classic cubes.
  4. Pour the mixture in individual molds.
  5. Steam for 10-15 minutes.
