MANILA — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle said that people should learn to love their enemies for peace to reign.

“Jesus said, we should love our enemies…He said love them and pray for those who are against you,” he said in his homily at the Fiesta Mass of the Our Lady of EDSA held at the EDSA Shrine in Mandaluyong City on Saturday.

The head of the Archdiocese of Manila said  that people would reap peace if they planted peace.

“Peace is the fruit if we planted justice, truth, love and respect. If we planted peace we will reap peace. We need to ask for grace. We cannot do it without the grace of our Lord and our Blessed Mother,” he said.

“Love begets love, and that’s (how it) grows, justice begets justice, truth begets truth, respect begets respects and peace will beget peace,” Tagle added.

The Our Lady of EDSA or the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace was built in 1989. Its location was a witness to two peaceful change in government, the People Power Revolution or EDSA I in 1986, that toppled President Ferdinand Marcos and EDSA II which unseated President Joseph Estrada in 2001.
