MANILA — A Philippine-based  information and communications technology solutions provider urges entrepreneurs to embrace digital transformation to maximize the advantages of new technologies to their business operations.

Micro-D International, Inc. (MDI) Chief Executive Officer Myla Villanueva said adopting digital transformation trinity -design, physical space, and brand’s aspirations -would not only change the way entrepreneurs do business but would also create “powerful customer experiences”.

MDI has been operating for 30 years using innovation and technology to elevate customers interactions, to have efficiencies and to create value for businesses through digital transformation.

Among the latest done by MDI was in partnership with the UnionBank of the Philippines for its “The Ark”, a full-service bank branch with different customer journey as it promoted and educated customers of its products and services through digital platforms.

Instead of getting a number for queueing, The Ark staff will hand over an iPad to a client where they will process their transactions.

“The Ark serves as venue to educate clients to digital space of our products and services,” UnionBank Consumer Finance and Chief User Experience Officer Ana Aboitiz-Delgado said.

Delgado said this move was part of UnionBank’s digital transformation as it eyed to be the premier digital bank in the country.

As the bank prepares for the digital transformation, its employees also undergo retooling of skills as simple bank transactions migrate to digital space.

But Delgado said that The Ark would not replace UnionBank’s traditional bank branches in the near future.

“Digital transformation closes the gap what digital customers are already expecting and what companies are delivering. We can’t be in an analogue world anymore,” Villanueva said.

“What is the cost if you do not (invest in digital transformation)? I think that’s the bigger question now,” she stressed.

Moreover, the MDI executive cited that sectors of telecommunications and finance had been aggressively adopting digital transformation in the country.

Villanueva added that with the advent of mobile technology, digital transformation could help those unbanked Filipinos to have bank accounts.

Likewise, outlook for retail sector is seen to be better if players are to start embracing digital transformation.
