CHANGSHA—Five people were killed and another injured when an explosion ripped through a dynamite manufacturing plant Tuesday in central China’s Hunan Province, authorities said.

Two bodies were retrieved from the debris as of 7 p.m., bringing the death toll of the accident to five, said a spokesman with the county’s publicity department.

One person who was injured was taken to hospital and his injuries are not life-threatening.

The plant is owned by Mintai Black Dynamite Limited Liability Company.

The legal representative of the company is in police custody and the cause of the incident is being investigated.
