The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines has restored power to the Luzon grid shortly after an earthquake hit Batangas at about 3:08 p.m.p>Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) traced the 3 p.m.-quake of tectonic origin some 12 kms north, 57° west of Mabini, Batangas at a depth of 24 kms.

The power firm said in an advisory that the grid lost a capacity of 2,584 megawatts. It affected Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.

It encourages customers to prepare for similar future incidents to monitor the current situation.

The Manila Electric Co., meanwhile, said in an advisory that power was restored at the area at 3:45 p.m. It lasted for 15 minutes
