MANILA –The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is well aware of the danger of the increasing terror threats in Asia and has now taking steps to address the matter.

This was disclosed by AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla when asked to comment on US Pacific Command head Admiral Harry Harris statement on the increasing terrorist threats in the region.

“This looming threat is not unknown to the AFP and is continuously monitored. It is also the reason why we have prioritized addressing the threat posed by local terrorist groups and extremists particularly those that have openly pledged allegiance to the Daesh in the country,” he noted.

Padilla stressed the threat of terrorism is a matter continuously addressed proactively by the security sector.

“This is also the basis for our call on the public to always remain vigilant, alert and observant of their environment. By working together, we heightened our security posture and become better prepared to meet this security challenge,” he emphasized.
