Poe assures coup d’etat will not happen under her presidency
LUCENA City—If elected president, Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday assured that no coup d’etat will happen under her presidency, saying her ‘Gobyernong May Puso’ intends to make every Filipino happy.
Poe made this reaction after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV warned Rodrigo Duterte of coup and other means to unseat the Davao City mayor if he wins in the May 9 presidential elections.
”I am very confident that there will be no coup d’etat if I will become the president because our people will be happy,” Poe said in a media interview here before holding a motorcade from Lucena City to Lipa City.
The lady senator said she would make sure that every Filipino received the basic services, vowing to continue the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) particularly the salaries of the soldiers.
Poe said her government will be transparent in spending the public funds, vowing to sign into law the Freedom of Information Bill if she wins the presidency.
True to her words, Poe on Wednesday made public her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) in 2015 which slightly decreased compared to the previous year.
Poe’s new net worth is Php89,118,760.02, over Php500,000 lowered compared to 2014.
”I think it’s the message of the Filipino people.
When asked if she agreed with Trillanes’ sentiments that Duterte’s administration would be vulnerable to coup d’etat, Poe said: “I think it is vulnerable to a lot of things.”
”Unang-una, hindi pa nga nakakaupo meron nang malaking kwestyon tungkol sa kredibilidad ng kanyang ari-arian at ng kanyang bank accounts,” Poe said.
Poe urged Duterte and other fellow presidential aspirants to sign secrecy waiver to disprove that allegations about the mayor’s hidden wealth is not true.
Duterte’s pronouncement that he will kill criminals if necessary and would form revolutionary government if the present Constitution could no longer address many problems besetting the country.
”I think that kind of system is not democratic when you pronounced that you will send to jail those who will oppose him,” Poe said.
She said even the media will enjoy freedom, adding “hindi dapat ang tao ang takot sa gobyerno; ang gobyerno ang dapat managot sa tao.”
”Basta kung ako magiging pangulo hindi ninyo ako magiging problema kasi ang isa nga sa pipirmahan ko, umpisa pa lang, Freedom of Information na,” she added.
