Alden Richards on rumored relationship: ‘Not true’

MANILA – Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards may not have directly addressed anyone but his recent Twitter post supposedly denied the latest controversy he’s involved in – allegedly having an off-screen relationship with fellow Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose.

“Not true…” read Alden’s post in his official Twitter account.

The actor made the tweet amid furor in social media among AlDub Nation members after comedy-variety show Sunday Pinasaya director Rich Ilustre confirmed that the actor was romantically linked to Julie Anne. It can be noted that the two, who have been mainstays in the noontime show, were previously rumored to be a couple.

In Twitter, a follower asked Rich if the singer was Alden’s girlfriend in real life. To this, the director replied with “yup,” seemingly confirming the relationship. It was later on found out that he actually meant “nope” instead but his reply was edited as a ‘joke.’

Coming out clean from the mistake, Rich’s alleged “like” on a netizen’s insulting post still earned him flak from the public. He then apologized for his actions online and vowed to be more cautious next time.

AlDub Nation has avidly supported the love team of Alden and rising star Maine Mendoza, more commonly known as “Yaya Dub.”

Meanwhile, some supporters believed that the controversy was only made so as to weaken AlDub’s strong fan base, especially since the two have been set to star in their first film together, My Bebe Love, which has been expected to be a box office hit in this year’s Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF).

With the speculation reaching the movie’s director, Joey Javier Reyes, he simply advised the AlDub Nation not to dwell on the controversy but to exude good vibes instead.

Maine, for her part, also urged her fans to radiate good vibes – although she has not also addressed if she released the statement because of the issue.
