MANILA – In an interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), actress-host Toni Gonzaga-Soriano shared how she kept her virginity until marriage and how she has been emotional in her first few weeks as a married woman.

“I take pride in myself na si Paul lang ang lalaki sa buhay ko,” Toni said in the interview, recalling her first night with her husband. “Parang bigla akong tumingin kay Paul, ‘Oy, grabe, ikaw lang ang lalaki sa buhay ko.’”

(I take pride in myself that Paul’s the only man in my life… It was like I suddenly looked at Paul [and said], ‘Hey, you’re the only man in my life.)

Toni also shared that she was able to keep her virginity in her eight-year relationship with Paul.

“’Puwede kang maglakad kahit saan; ako lang ang nakaano sa asawa ko,” Toni said, mentioning that Paul was also a virgin before their wedding night. “Parang tagumpay siya. Napagtagumpayan niya… Nakita ko naman kung paano niya ako nirespeto, kung paano ka niya alagaan.”

(You can walk anywhere; I’m the only one who did it with my husband… It was like success for him. He succeeded… I saw how he respected me, how he took care of [me].)

“Hinintay talaga niya yung ano… Nag-look back kami ng wedding, first time naming nagdi-date, yung mga bawal siya dating pumanhik sa second floor [ng bahay naming],” Toni added.

(He really waited for it… We looked back at the wedding, the first time we’ve dated, when he was not allowed to go upstairs [of our home.])

Despite the utter happiness, Toni admitted that she has yet to adjust to being a daughter to being a wife.

“Nagiging emotional ako. Naiiyak ako. Katulad nung isang beses, okay na. Kumain na kami, tapos biglang aalis na siya papuntang trabaho. Tapos, nalulungkot ako. Mag-isa na lang ako. Gusto kong umuwi sa bahay namin, ‘Ang lungkot naman dito,’” she shared.

(I’m becoming emotional. I tend to cry. Like one time, it was okay. We already ate, then he’d suddenly leave to go to work. And then, I get sad. I’m left alone. I want to go back home. It’s sad here.)
