MANILA — Vice President Jejomar Binay is still the leading Presidential candidate for next year’s polls, according to the latest results of The Standard Poll survey.

With 28 percent, Binay still leads the survey followed by Sen. Grace Poe with 24 percent.

Mayors Joseph Estrada and Ronald Duterte, meanwhile ranked 3rd at 10 percent while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II in fourth spot with eight percent each.

In an interview for ABS-CBN news, Rico Quicho, Binay’s spokesman for political affairs said that the results of the survey shows Filipinos’ support to Binay despite the attacks by his political opponents.

“His base of support remains solid and this cannot be disputed,” he said of the survey results.

He also added that Binay welcomes the results and is thankful to the Filipinos for supporting him amid the issues raised against him.

“The Vice President is thankful to the people for standing by him and sharing his vision for the country,” he said.

He also added that as the election draws near, their camp is expecting intensified attacks against Binay as his opponents would like “improve their ratings while hiding their thin credentials and unpreparedness for the job.”
