Poe to push charging MILF men for SAF killing
MANILA — Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday remained firm on her decision to stand by the commitee’s recommendation of filing criminal charges against the members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The said MILF members were allegedly involved in the killing of 44 police commandos during the Mamasapano encounter in Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
“The committee stands by its report,” she said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement was made following the submission of the rebel group’s fact-finding report on the incident described the joint Senate investigation as a “massacre.”
Poe, however added that the Senate may propose amendments during the resumption of the session in May.
“However, as I announced previously, amendments may be proposed and considered when we resume session in May,” Poe said.
“How the MILF report should be treated, considering certain findings of fact which are contradictory to a portion of ours, shall also be discussed by the joint committees,” she added.
