Forest fire hits TV soap shooting area
MANILA — A portion of the area used for shooting a soap opera at the Mount Santo Tomas watershed was recently hit by a forest fire.
Fire investigator Randy Orchagon said that the fire started around 10 p.m on Thursday within Sitio Bigis, Kabuyao village Benguet’s Tuba town.
Government foresters along with the firefighters fought to end the fire quelled around 11 a.m. on Friday.
According to Orchagon, the fire consumed a total of 3 hectares of forest and grasslands.
It consumed the area located below the two giant satellite dishes, for which the peak of Mt. Santo Tomas is known.
No casualties were reported after the fire which was reported to be far from the settlements in the area’s Baguio and Tuba territories.
