Newly assigned Tourism Director for San Francisco, Northwest US and Western/Central Canada Purificacion S. Molintas went on a four- day visit to Vancouver from Feb. 21 to 25, to coordinate with the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver and Philippine Airlines on upcoming tourism promotion events. During her brief visit, she likewise met with Filipino-Canadian media.

Molintas replaced Rene delos Santos who ended his tour of duty last year.

Prior to her assumption as DOT representative in the region, Molintas served as DOT regional director of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) based in Baguio City.

During her visit, Molintas met with PAL Country Manager Allan Coo to discuss preparations for the inaugural flight of Philippine Airlines from Vancouver to New York on Mar. 15, and the reception to be co-hosted by DOT and PAL to be held on Mar. 11, at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver to present upcoming DOT projects and products to various stakeholders.

She also met with various travel agencies like Jade Tours, Goway Travel, Silkway Travel and the Royal Scenic Holidays hoping to come up with more attractive packages that would appeal not only to former Filipinos here in Canada but to other Asian immigrants as well.

A meet and greet was held at the Flamingo Restaurant to introduce Molintas to the Filipino Canadian media.
