MANILA – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Monday said that they recovered 64 bodies were recovered from the site of a clash between their group and the police last Sunday.

Based on the report of the MILF investigators, all 64 bodies belonged to US-trained police officers who came into their town to serve warrants of arrest to commander Basit Usman and Zulkifli bin Hir alis “Marwan.” Both are members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Marwan is on the list of the most wanted terrorist in the US, with $5 million bounty being offered for his arrest. Meanwhile, Usman has a $2-million tag price on his head.

It was reported that Marwan apparently died during the encounter, but according to Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, they are still validating this claim.

The MILF report said that 36 of the murdered policemen came from one police unit, while the other 28 were part of another unit.

Aside from the casualties on the part of the police officers, eight members from the MILF and BIFF died with more than a dozen injured.
