MANILA – Singer Jamie Rivera is set to perform the theme song for Pope Francis’ visit on two events – during the meeting with Families on Friday and the youth gathering at the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday.

Rivera shared that she does not mind if she will not be able to have a close encounter with the Pontiff. What matter is that, she will be able to perform “We Are All God’s Children,” which she wrote with friend Noel Espenida.

The message of her song talks about the mission of Pope’s Philippine tour which include solidarity with the poor, mercy, and compassion for weak.

When she learned that the Pope will visit, she got in touch with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Archbishop Socrates Villegas and asked permission if she can compose a song.

“It was a long shot,” Rivera said. “He was actually surprised but he liked the idea and said it would have to be approved by the Vatican. He gave me a deadline, June 25, and suggested that I also make a video with actions that would go with the song.”
