MANILA – A man climbed up to the roof of the Kamuning station of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and threatened to jump off from his precarious perch. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, at approximately 5 a.m., caused heavy traffic along EDSA’s southbound lane.

Officials have withheld the man’s identity.

Witnesses said that the man made his way to the roof of the station early morning of Wednesday, and threatened to jump. It was later on discovered that the man was under great stress due to family problems, and was searching for his wife.

Radio dzMM reporter Zandro Ochona captured the incident on the video. The footage shows rescuers setting an air cushion into place to catch the man, in the event that he made good his threat to jump.

Rescuers from the Bureau of Fire Protection managed to convince the distraught man to climb back down to safety.

The man was brought to East Avenue Medical Center for medical assessment, after which he was taken to the Quezon City Police District Station 10 for questioning.
