MANILA – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday hit businessman Antonio Tiu for denying that he served as a dummy for Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Trillanes added that he can easily deny it on a press release but being under interrogation is a different matter.

“Kung press release lang madaling sabihin ‘yun, pero kapag humarap siya, diyan makikita nyo panong gumuho yung istory niya,” Trillanes said in a press conference. (It’s easy to say that in press releases but once you face him, you’ll see how his story will crumble.)

Tiu is the registered owner of a vast property in Batangas alleged by Binay’s critics to be owned by the Vice President.

Former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado, who is among the major “whistleblowers” standing against Binay in the current senate probe on his alleged unexplained wealth, said that Tiu is only a property on paper and Binay is the real owner.

“Kung haharap siya, siya mismo makikita ‘nyo how he [conducts] himself under intense questioning,” added the senator. (If Tiu faces the Senate, you’ll see for yourself how he’ll respond to intense questioning.)

“I felt betrayed kasi (because) I know him, he was a friend. Pero dahil dito sa cover-up na ito (but because of this coverup) our friendship will not protect him, so tutuluyan natin ito (we’ll push through with this),” added Trillanes.
