MANILA – An out-of-control bus rolled down the slope along the highway in Kimantong, Daraga, Albay on Sunday leaving two children dead and 35 others injured.

The police identified the children who died from the accident as Baby Jane Abrigo, 12, and a still unnamed boy around 11 years old.

Superintendent Joel Adan, chief of Daraga Municipal Police Station said that the Dondon Liner bus, with plate number 052410, was travelling from Sorsogon City to Legazpi City.

He added that there were 38 passengers on board when the bus lost control and slid down the slope in a highway in Kimantong.

“According to our preliminary investigation, the bus lost control at the slope due to lose brakes,” Adan said.

Meanwhile, the driver named Romel Janer San Buenaventura, 43, who is now being held by the Daraga police, has suffered minor injury.

The driver is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
