MANILA — Following a forensic examination of Benhur Luy’s hard drive, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was able to retrieve several deleted Word and Excel files.

“During the examination, the software was able to detect that some were deleted files and we were able to recover it,” NBI cybercrime division Chief Ronald Aguto told reporters.

Aguto also added that the files retrieved were deleted around December to January although they were not able to identify who deleted the files.

While the original hard drive is still with the NBI, a CD containing Luy’s files — including the forensic report — was submitted to the Senate

“We will reproduce this for the senators so they will have a copy,” Guingona said.

Guingona also added that the date will first be collated analyzed before they call for another hearing.

Meanwhile, printed and hard copies of the contents running about 31,700 pages have been submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.

“The hardcopy that was produced out of the hard drive were already submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman in compliance to the subpoena issued to us since February,” NBI director Virgilio Mendez told reporters.
