Aquino scores 2 of 11 in Pulse Asia survey

Manila, Philippines — In a recent Pulse Asia survey, Pres. Benigno Aquino’s administration got the approval of more than 50% of Filipinos on the issues of fighting criminality and increasing peace in the country, gaining a Net Approval Rating (NAR) of +46 (59% approve, 28% undecided, 13% disapprove) and +40 (52% approve, 36% undecided, 12% disapprove), respectively.

However, the present administration failed to get the nod of most of the respondents on the following issues:

  • On the issue of enforcing the law on all, whether influential or ordinary people – +37 (50% approve, 37% undecided, 13% disapprove).
  • On defending the integrity of Philippine territory against foreigners – +34 (48% approve, 38% undecided, 14% disapprove).
  • On fighting graft and corruption in government – +31 (50% approve, 30% undecided, 19% disapprove).
  • On stopping the destruction and abuse of our environment – +30 (48% approve, 34% undecided, 18% disapprove).
  • On creating more jobs – +20 (41% approve, 29% undecided, 21% disapprove),
  • On controlling fast population growth – +19 (40% approve, 39% undecided, 21% disapprove).
  • On improving/increasing the pay of workers – +15 (38% approve, 39% undecided, 23% disapprove).
  • On reducing the poverty of many Filipinos – +4 (30% approve, 43% undecided, 26% disapprove).
  • On controlling inflation – -8 (26% approve, 40% undecided, 34% disapprove).

The survey was conducted last March 19-26, 2014, with 1,200 respondents.
