DAVAO CITY — Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MinProba) champions Glenn “The Rock” Porras and Dingdong “The Fantasy Warrior” Quinones will be fighting against each other in the main event of “The Redemption: Clash of Champions” boxing card on September 16 at the Panabo City Park Gym.

Porras, who is now based in Panabo City is the former MinProba bantamweight (118 lbs.) champion while Quinones of General Santos City is the current MinProba super flyweight (115 lbs.) title holder.

“Porras and Quinones have both relinquished their titles already to fight for the vacant MinProba super bantamweight (122 lbs.) title,” said promoter Engr. Jilson Basang.

Porras, a native of M’lang North Cotabato, is also a former WBO Asia Pacific Youth and Philippine bantamweight champion. Porras (29-6-0, 17 KOs) won his MinProba title by a unanimous decision against Renante Suacasa last September 17 in his own hometown. Porras knocked down thrice Suacasa during the fight also promoted by the MB Northstar Boxing Promotions.

But the 31-year-old Porras has dropped both his last two fights. He first bowed to Jayar Estremos by a 5th round technical decision last November 26 in Manila. Porras then lost by a UD to Ben Mananquil in their battle for the vacant WBF International bantamweight championship last February 26 in Gensan.

Quinones (6-18-1, 4 KOs) captured the MinProba super flyweight title by stopping Jomar Diana in the second round last May 5 in Maitum, Sarangani Province.

The 32-year-old Quinones, however, was stopped by a solid body punch by Glenn Enterina by a 2nd round technical knockout last June 19 in Titay.

The boxing event, which is free to the public, is presented by the MB Northstar Boxing Promotions with Engr. Ricardo “Bong” Javier as the matchmaker. It is supported by the Panabo City Government, JBRJ Construction and PS Solutions of Ralph Peterson
