MANILA—The Philippine National Police Counter-Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) has received 3,279 complaints against scalawag policemen through their text hotlines: ‎099-8970-2286 and ‎099-5795-2569.

PNP-CITF spokesman Chief Insp. Jewel Nicanor on Thursday said that such figure was collated for the first month of the task force’s operation.

Aside from this, Nicanor said, they are receiving an average of 3 calls everyday and 3 “walk-in” complainants against policemen who are allegedly involved in illegal activities.

He noted that majority of the complaints are cases of robbery and extortion allegedly committed on motorists, and illegal arrest.

The PNP official said all complaints that they received are undergoing meticulous assessment to make sure that the same are not just harassment against policemen.

As of Thursday, the PNP-CITF has already launched seven operations wherein 14 rogue policemen were arrested, who are now facing charges.
