MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed two new Department of Transportation (DOTr) officials to oversee the country’s rail system, official documents released by Malacañang showed Friday.

Rodolfo J. Garcia was named Director V, equivalent to general manager, of the Metro Rail Transit-3.

Garcia, whose appointment papers was signed by the President last February 24, replaced Roman R. Buenafe who resigned in October 2016.

Meanwhile, Transportation assistant secretary Cesar B. Chavez was promoted to undersecretary for rail replacing Noel Eli B. Kintanar, who resigned in November last year.

Chavez’s appointment papers was signed by President Duterte last February 28.
