HAMILTON—A man is facing charges after allegedly trying to take a police officer’s firearm and bite other officers.

Hamilton police say an officer was sent to help paramedics with a man who had been found lying in the street on Saturday and was believed to need medical assistance.

They say that when the officer approached the man to assist him to the ambulance, the man allegedly told the officer he was going to take his gun.

Investigators say the man was arrested after a brief struggle that ensued when the man allegedly began reaching for the officer’s firearm.
