65th Miss Universe coronation gets over 34.6-M tweets, highest for an entertainment event
MANILA—The 65th Miss Universe coronation held in Manila last Jan. 30 got over 34.6 million tweets globally, Twitter shared Wednesday.
Though people around the world have started conversations and shared their thoughts and support via Twitter since the pre-pageant, the 34.6 million tweets were generated during the coronation event alone.
Twitter noted that this figure is the highest tweet volume for an entertainment event during a live show.
From the contestants’ gowns, national costumes, fans used Twitter to spark up conversations.
Miss France Iris Mittenaere won the Miss Universe crown, but Twitter said that during the event, the most “tweeted” contestants were Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, Miss Philippines Maxine Medina, and Miss Brazil Raissa Santana.
It added that the five most talked-about during the coronation were the following:
* end of evening gown round * end of interview round * Miss Kenya was asked about Donald Trump * end of swimsuit round * top 6 contestants revealed
Meanwhile, as the event also marked the final walk of 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach on stage, Filipinos shared their messages on Twitter, thanking Pia for bringing honor and pride to the Philippines.
Filipinos also expressed their support to Maxine Medina via Twitter, even when Medina’s journey ended in the top 6 round of the pageant.
