Ali remembered at venues around the globe

There was a moment of silence before Game 3 of the Stanley Cup. At baseball stadiums across America, fans fell quiet and players bowed their heads.

Madison Square Garden put “The Greatest” on the marquee that beamed into New York City.

Muhammad Ali was one of the globe’s most revered athletes, and athletes, luminaries and entertainers spoke, tweeted and wrote about his impact on Saturday as word of his death spread.

Around the globe, sports venues are honoring Muhammad Ali, who died Friday at the age of 74 after a long fight with Parkinson’s. See the memorial moments through the lenses of AP photographers.
