MANILA—During the vice presidential debate on Sunday, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano insisted that crime can be eliminated within three to six months if he and PDP-LABAN standard-bearer Rodrigo Duterte are elected to the nation’s two highest positions in the May polls.

Cayetano said that “eradicating crime is simple if you have political will.”

In this case, he means implementing the law to the fullest possible and making criminals realized that they can be jailed or killed, if they resist arrest, for their misdeeds

Cayetano said that of all the candidates in the upcoming polls, only he and Duterte have the political will to eradicate corruption in the country.

“Buong buhay natin may corruption, unless we change the system. Only a Duterte-Cayetano (leadership) can guarantee that, in just six months,” he stressed.

The debate was held at the University of Santos Tomas (UST) in Manila.
