President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III slammed Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay’s statements that the administration neglected Cebu and favored other provinces through its selective treatment, allotting more of the national budget to areas with strong allies.

Aquino even advised Binay to have his eyes checked by an optometrist so that he could clearly see all the national government’s programs and projects in Cebu.

The President disclosed that his administration allotted P22.848 billion for the province’s infrastructure projects, including constructing roads and bridges, improving the airport and the port, among others.

“Is this what they (Binay’s camp) mean that we have left out and didn’t focus on Cebu,” Aquino said in a briefing, adding that the Vice President could get a copy of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) briefer.

The President even suggested that he himself would give Binay new glasses so he could scrutinize DPWH’s briefer but he doubted that it would enable the Vice President to see clearer.

“Problem is, those who pretend to be blind will not see anything even if we give them good glasses… If they (Binay’s camp) want to live the world that he has created, that is his problem. But a reminder, there is free medical treatment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Binay stated that he still considered Aquino as a friend despite their verbal jabs. He was just pointing out what the administration failed to do but he was not addressing all the blames to the President.

“On my end, his family, I consider him as a friend. I’m just revealing some things that the public should know,” he said in Tagalog in an interview with Radyo Inquirer.
