MANILA — Senator Grace Poe is yet to decide whether or not she will run for President in the 2016 elections.
Several members of the Liberal Party are now urging Poe to run for Vice President.
This is following President Aquino’s announcement that he will be endorsing Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas in next year’s polls.
“You have to do what you have to do for the country and sometimes, it’s not necessarily what’s expected from you, but you have to make decisions that are difficult,” Poe said.
“So sometimes even if your friend is involved, if you have to do something, you have to do it because it’s your obligation,” she added.
She added that if she run for Vice President, Senator Francis Escudero would not seek that position.
“Senator Poe and I will not compete with each other for any position,” Escudero also said in a separate statement.
President Aquino, meanwhile, is still eyeing for Poe to run as Vice President under the Liberal Party.
“We are still hoping. We still want that very unified group that will preserve the coalition as much as possible that can ensure the victory of the agenda,” Aquino told reporters.
“Until matapos ang filing ng certificates of candidacy, wala pang pag-uusapang tapos.” he added.
(Until the end of filing of certificates of candidacy, talks are not yet over.)
