OTTAWA, Ontario — The results are in and just in time for Canada Day! Over 5000 Canadian foodie fans have voted, and BUTTER CHICKEN has been declared the favourite Canadian globally-inspired dish. It was a close race with other worthy and delicious contenders, including pad thai, gyoza, tikka masala, chimichurri, risotto and empanadas. But the irresistible butter chicken came out on top with a whopping 28% of the vote.

“Canada has such a culturally diverse culinary landscape,” says Chris Knight, CEO of Gusto TV. “We thought it would be fun to ask our fans, who are all very food-oriented, what their favourite globally-inspired dish is. We got a lot of engagement and people really enjoyed debating about what Canadian cuisine meant to them and why their favourite dish deserved to win.”

The voting took place over a three week period in June and the poll was available on Gusto TV’s website and social media channels.
