MANILA – Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada wants house arrest for former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo adding that Arroyo deserves it given her deteriorating health.

Estrada, who is turning 78 today, said that it is his “number one” birthday wish.

“My number one birthday wish is: May President Aquino grant house arrest to former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Her physical condition is deteriorating,” he said.

“As a woman we should give her compassion. We should give her a little comfort,” Estrada added.

Arroyo granted Estrada pardon on October 2007 after he was convicted of plunder.

Arroyo took over the presidency following Estrada’s ousted from office in 2001 by what came to be known as Edsa Dos.

Estrada added that his second wish was to attain peace in Mindanao and in the entire country.

“I wish that we will have peace and order in the country,” he said.

Estrada will be celebrating his birthday party in Solaire resortin Paranaque City.
