MANILA — Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Thursday said that state prosecutors recommended to file criminal charges against 90 Moro rebels following the death of 35 police commandos during the Mamasapano operation.

A report on the Mamasapano clash has already been submitted to the Department of Justice, according  to De Lima in a news conference.

“We will review this report this weekend. We will submit a copy to the Office of the President, then we will announce on Monday if the report can already be released,” De Lima said.

She added that said report covers only the killing of 35 commandos from the 55th SAC in Tukanalipao village in Mamasapano.

A team of prosecutors and investigators will be given two months to find out the persons involved in the killing of the nine commandos from the84th SAC, the 17 MILF rebels and the three civilians.

Once the recommendations are approved, DOJ will proceed to the filing of cases against 90 suspects from the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the MILF.
