House-to-house search being conducted to locate abducted Zamboanga Sibugay mayor
MANILA — Government security troops have launched a house-to-house search in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay in a bid to rescue Naga Mayor Gemma Adana who was snatched by still unidentified lawless elements Monday night.
Lt. Col. Audie Mongao, 1st Infantry Division spokesperson, said that police units are being assisted by 1st Infantry Division troopers in the search operation.
Mongao also said that a crisis management committee was already activated to deal with the incident.
He added that no ransom demand has been made by the suspects.
Adana was seized at around 9:15 p.m. Monday in Barangay Taytay Manubo, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The victim was eating with her family members when three gunmen wearing masks barged in and took her at gunpoint.
The gunmen dragged Adana to the shoreline and forced her into a motorized banca which sped off toward an unknown direction.
