MANILA, Philippines – Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto said that he has discovered boxing legend Manny Pacquiao’s secret weapon: 7-time Boxing Coach of the Year, Freddie Roach.

Roach, whose services were recently employed by Cotto, has been Pacquiao’s trainer for several years now.

Cotto said that as far as boxing science goes, Roach will play a big role in the fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr..

Speaking to reporters from the New York Post, Cotto said: “After working with Freddie I think Freddie is going to be huge in the fight.”

In 2009, Cotto got in the ring with Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title. The Purto Rican hit the floor twice, before the fight was stopped in the 12th round.

Cotto also fought Mayweather some years later, but lost by unanimous decision.
When asked for his opinion as to who would triumph in the much-anticipated Pacquiao-Mayweather bout, the boxer answered: “I’m going for Manny,” as he explained that the Filipino is a tougher match.
