MANILA — A 3.5-meter drone reported to be owned by the US Navy was found by fishermen off Sta. Ana, Cagayan on Wednesday.

This was following the recovery of a similar drone found earlier in Masbate.

According to Sta. Ana police chief Senior Inspector Darwin Urani, the drone was floating off Barangay Tangatan at around 11:20 a.m.

The US embassy said the drone was an aerial target of the US Navy and was not used for surveillance.

The embassy added that it did not carry weapons and it was used by surface ships and aircraft during a military exercise in Guam.

“It was meant to help train sailors in a realistic environment that provides the best possible training,” the US embassy said.
