NBI agents seize fake Jan Sport, North Face bags worth PhP11-M in Manila raids

MANILA — Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Intellectual Property Rights Division seized 2,363 counterfeit JanSport and The North Face bags worth PhP11 million in a series of raids in Binondo, Manila during the recently concluded Yuletide season.

Raided were the retail store and stockroom of Ko Tiak Peng/Gao Do Peng/Ko Lu Peng at Stall 1D-34, G/F, 168 Shopping Mall 1; Unit 6G-29, 6/F, 999 Shopping Mall; Louis Ho’s retail store and two stockrooms at Stall 1D-10, G/F, 168 Shopping Mall 1; Unit 7B-15 and Unit 7G-17, 7/F, 999 Shopping Mall 2, all located in Binondo.

The NBI obtained the search warrants from Acting Presiding Judge Rico Sebastian D. Liwanag of the Regional Trial Court Branch 159, Pasig City.

Charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act No. 8293 are being prepared against the owner/s of the raided establishments.
