TORONTO — The province’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal shooting early today involving police in east Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit says police responded to a 911 call just after midnight at the Warden subway station.

Investigators say there was “an interaction” between police and a man, and the man was fatally shot.

Eight investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
