5 Filipinos killed in car crash in Qatar

MANILA – Five Filipinos were killed in Qatar after their vehicle was hit by a sports utility vehicle and caught fire in an accident on Corniche-Wakra Highway near the Hamad International Airport.

The victims were identified as Marilou Cal, Joyce Gelli, couple Ben Chris Rivera and Joyce Rivera and their one-year-old son Arcilian Zirc III. The survivor, Suzeth Rivera, is currently at Hamad Hospital.

Based on investigations, the remains of the victims were burned beyond recognition.

Both Cal and Gelli were nurses. The two went with Rivera to visit her relatives for the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained fractured legs and is being treated.
