A maid in Davao got caught on Wednesday after kidnapping a girl placed under her care.

Rey (not his real name) was beyond happy when he got reunited with his two-year-old daughter who was kidnapped by their housemaid, Maritess Magno Laxamana.

According to Rey, Laxamana has only been with them for roughly two weeks. He got shocked one day when their maid and his daughter were not in their residence and were nowhere to be found.

It was 9:00 AM when Laxamana sent him a message declaring she kidnapped his daughter and asked for P1 million ransom money.

At 1:00 PM, Rey pleaded for Laxamana to reduce the amount and the ransom money was down to P10,000.

At around 2:00 PM, Rey surrendered P1,000 to Laxamana through a courier.

Finally at 5:00 PM, the police, through their entrapment operation, was able to track down and arrest Laxamana. The child was then returned to his parents.

Laxamana was charged with kidnapping and falsification of documents as she also gave false documents to the agency she applied to.

The agency who hired Laxamana will also be investigated.

The authority advised the public to do background checks on housemaids they plan to hire.
