Zambo health office immunizes 127,014 children against measles, polio
ZAMBOANGA CITY –- The City Health Office has already vaccinated a total of 127,014 children below five years old in the on-going mass immunization against measles and polio.
City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said Friday that 59,525 of the 127,014 children were vaccinated against measles while 67,489 for Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV).
Agbulos said the mass vaccination is geared towards measles and polio free Philippines. The vaccination started September 1 and ends September 30.
Agbulos said they are not conducting any other activity to enable all the health workers–physicians, nurses and midwives–to focus on the mass immunization program.
He urged parents with children below five years old to bring them to the health centers in their respective barangays.
He is optimistic they will be able to reach the target numbers of children to be immunized.
The Department of Health (DOH) targets to immunize 104,719 children against measles and 122,931 children against polio in this city.
The mass immunization campaign is anchored on the theme “Ligtas sa Tigdas, Magkaisa, Magpabakuna.”
