WestJet plane lands safely in Toronto after reporting engine trouble
TORONTO—Authorities say a WestJet plane landed safely at Toronto’s Pearson Airport this morning on an unscheduled stop due to an engine problem.
Airport spokesman Scott Armstrong says WestJet Flight 585 was headed from Hamilton to Calgary.
Officials say the plane was met by emergency crews when it landed.
Peel police say the Boeing 737 had a problem with one of its engines but all of the 152 people on board are safe.
Police say mechanics are trying to determine whether the engine can be immediately repaired, or if the passengers must be put on another plane.
Pearson Airport spokeswoman Trish Krale confirms the plane landed safely but referred further questions to WestJet, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
