Five inmates charged with attempted murder after stabbing at Halifax jail

HALIFAX — Police say five inmates have been charged with attempted murder after another inmate was brutally stabbed in a Halifax-area jail.

Investigators say police were called to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility around 5 p.m. Saturday after reports that an inmate had been stabbed multiple times.

Police say the 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

They say five men are facing numerous charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
