MANILA — Because of possibilities in running on the 2016 elections, political foes are making an orchestrated move against his family, according to Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

Binay said in a press conference in his office last Monday that they were able to acquire a copy of a draft complaint for plunder which will be filed against his father, Vice-President Jejomar Binay.

According to Binay, the case was about his father’s old project when he was still the mayor in Makati.

He added that they are seeing a connection between the complaints and the privilege speech delivered last week by Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice.

Erice, an ally of the Liberal Party president-on-leave Mar Roxas asked for Binay’s resignation over corruption complaints.

Earlier reports showed that Vice President Binay and Roxas, who earlier competed for the vice presidential post during the 2010 elections, will be competing again in the 2016 elections.
