TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian state television is reporting that at least two people have been killed and 30 others injured after a heavy dust storm hit the capital, Tehran.

The report said Monday’s storm roared into the capital with winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour (68 mph).

The broadcast says the storm caused temporary power outages in some districts of Tehran and broke trees. It also says the storm caused a chain-reaction crash on a highway south of the capital with 20 vehicles and caused international flights to be cancelled.

Authorities have asked children and the elderly, as well as those with heart problems, to remain indoors.

The TV report said heavy winds also engulfed parts of central Iran, but there were no reports of any casualties.
