MANILA, Philippines — On Wednesday morning, a powerful explosion shocked the service branch’s headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, injuring a number of persons.

The explosion happened around 11:25 a.m. at the Explosives and Ordnance Division building inside the Army Support Command, Captain Anthony Bacus, the Army deputy spokesman said.

“Just three minutes ago, we heard (a) loud explosion. Abot hanggang dito ‘yung pagyanig ng pagsabog (The force of the explosion could be felt from here),” Bacus said.

Bacus is still unsure if someone was killed in the blast.

“Before the explosion, may sunog doon. Tapos may maliliit na pagsabog hanggang sa sumabog ng malakas,” he added.

( Before the explosion, there was a fire there. Then, several weaker explosions occurred until it blasted strongly.)

Firefighters are still on the scene battling the blaze, a radio report said.
