The youth should register as voters.

This was the appeal of Fr. Conegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Youth.

“The Church is calling on to you. Register and be part of bringing positive change to our country and our people,” Fr. Conegundo Garganta said in an interview.

Voter registration will start  on May 6 and will end on October 31, 2015.

“The Constitution recognizes the right to suffrage of every people of age. The least requirement is to register as a voter,” he said.

“Do not fail our country, it is a noble duty to select leaders from among the many. Exercise your right,” Garganta added.

Meanwhile,  Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) chairperson Henrietta de Villa encouraged first time voters to register while it is vacation time, “Register early. Don’t wait for the last days,” she said.
