The pride of the Philippines, and Tony and Laurence Olivier awardee, Ms. Lea Salonga, was the featured artist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic’s fundraising concert “Love Passion Music” on February 15 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

Ms. Salonga’s repertoire included “Defying Gravity” from the hit Broadway musical “Wicked” and “A Whole New World” from the Disney hit “Aladdin,” which she sang with Mr. Raymond Young, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs of Hong Kong.  Her brother, Gerard Salonga, was the guest conductor.

The concert, which was well-attended by the Filipino community in Hong Kong to the delight of Ms. Salonga, also included performances from Mr. Michael Macleod, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Choir, as well as from talented kids and music enthusiasts.

The proceeds from the concert will benefit the Hong Kong Philharmonic’s music education and community engagement programmes.

The Philippine Consulate General and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) served as supporters of the event.  END
